Find Inspiration at Taubman Museum in Roanoke, Virginia

Roanoka, Virginia

Roanoka, Virginia

I recently visited Taubman Museum of Art in downtown Roanoke, Virginia, and wholly recommend it for all ages.  The contemporary art — some on permanent display and some as traveling exhibitions — will inspire you.

I am not an artist but can appreciate the exquisite talent of the modern and historical pieces.  I was awestruck as I toured and felt inspired to write better and even live better with harmony toward the environment.

There is an area just for kids in this family-friendly and wheelchair-accessible museum.  The children’s area even has a lab for really hands-on time, and some interactive displays are a hit with all ages.  Interpreting the art is half the fun and will excite and educate at the same time.

You may visit and tour on your own or come for a group tour.  The facility also includes a shopping experience and a café

From my own perspective, the art transferred me, and similar to looking out at the ocean, reminded me that I am small in the entire scheme of things.  I am more of a businessperson and really admire those individuals who can create art and challenge and educate.

A piece of art in and of itself, the striking building is easily recognizable in downtown, with modern glass and steel arranged in non-linear shapes.  Many start taking pictures before going in.  With easy access off Interstate 81 and close to many cultural activities in the Shenandoah Valley, the Taubman Museum of Art is a must-see.
